Dual Outputs Switch Mode Power Supply (DOSMPS) Utilizing Forward Converter Topology

Abstract Experimental works of dual, 5 volt DC outputs switch mode power supply (DOSMPS) is presented in this paper. To design, construct and evaluate the DOSMPS using forward converter topology are objectives article. In work, a 556 timer was picked as pulse width modulator. The because it widely used, cheap capable producing stable dual modulations. Since, work targeted outputs, two circuits were built. However, switching frequencies at transistors controlled by only one timer. complete circuit consist full bridge rectifier, smoothing capacitor, high frequency transformers circuits. At first stage designed Proteus software. Later, constructed on breadbroads after all electronic components devices available. Important parameters such input output voltages duty cycles measured digital oscilloscope multimeter. Results from these measurements have shown that can convert single-phase 24 Vrms 50 Hz AC voltage into 5±0.1 V outputs. Also observed that, pulsed with peak value 2 less than 20 kHz sufficient controlling both BJT transistors. This allows regulation within desired range. Analysis carried out has close correlation between theoretical experimental results, where calculated had deviated 1.1%.
